Day 1 – Arrival at Sofia Airport. The group will be welcomed by a professional tour guide. Transfer to a 4-star hotel in the city center. Small tour of the city center with visit to St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral. Dinner in a typical Bulgarian restaurant in the city center – specialties from the Bulgarian cuisine (shopska salad, fried yogurt, chicken kavarma) Overnight.

Day 2 – After breakfast departure for Veliko Turnovo – the old Bulgarian capital from the time of the second Bulgarian Kingdom (1187-1393). The town is situated on three hills at the picturesque banks of the Yantra river. visit to the Tzarevetz fortress with the Baldwin Tower that reminds of the victory won by the Bulgarian King Kaloyan over the crusaders in 1205. Accomodation in a 4-star hotel in the town. Visit to the neighbouring museum-village of Arbanassi. Visit the Church of the Nativity of Jesus Christ with remarkable frescoes. Dinner in a local restaurant in Arbanassi. Overnight in Veliko Turnovo.

Day 3 – Before lunch departure for the Thracian complex of Sveshtari where archeologists have recently discovered a Thracian tomb dating back to 3c. B.C. One of the tomb’s most interesting features are the numerous female figures (three on each wall) which wake over the dead Thracian chieftain. The tour continues with visit of the picturesque town of Triavna situated at the foot of the Balkan Mountain range. The houses in this town are two-store, with interesting architecture, wooden balconies and benches. A good example of the houses is the Daskalova House (1804), which houses an ethnographic exhibition. Dinner and overnight in the cozy 3-star hotel “Zograf”.

Day 4 – After breakfast departure for Kazanluk - capital of the Rose Valley. Visit to the Thracian tomb that dates back to the 4th c. B.C. The tomb is famous for its unique frescoes depicting the funeral of an important Thracian chieftain and is under the protection of UNESCO. Visit to the Ethnographic museum in town where the exhibition re-creates the production process of rose oil as well as the history of the cultivation of roses in Bulgaria. Degustation of rose brandy and rose jam. Departure for Haksovo. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 5 – Departure for Kardjali. Visit to the Historical Museum founded in 1965 to explore and preserve the cultural and historic heritage of the East Rhodopes. It has a collection of 27 000 exhibits many of which from the Thracian period. Panorama drive through the picturesque Rhodopes for Pamporovo. On the road to Pamporovo early dinner in a rustic house in the beautiful village of Shiroka Luka. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel in Pamporovo. Overnight.

Day 6 – After breakfast departure for Plovdiv – the second biggest town in Bulgaria. On the route to Plovdiv visit the Bachkovo monastery founded by the Bakuriani brothers in 1083. Accommodation in a 3-star hotel in Plovdiv. Sightseeing of the Old Town, a place where one can get acquainted with the Roman past of the town and get amazed by the vivid colours of the houses of the National Revival period. Visit the Ethnographic museum, St. Constantine and Helen Church and the Roman amphitheater. Dinner in a typical local restaurant situated in the romantic setting of the Old town. Overnight.

Day 7 - Departure for the Rila Monastery, the biggest monastery in Bulgaria, founded in the 10th century by the Bulgarian monk Ivan Rilski. The monastery is situated in the Rila mountain range at an altitude of 1127 meters above the sea level. During the National Revival period the monastery became one of the most important religious and cultural centers. Sightseeing of the monastery including the monastery church and the museum. Arrival in Sofia in the late afternoon. Accommodation in a 4-star hotel. Folklore dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 8 – Transfer to Sofia airport.
