Geography

GeographyBulgaria is a place where you will find an abundance of seasons, opulent and often changing landscapes, gorgeous mountain peaks, fertile valleys and romatic sea views. All on an area of 110,910 sq km - an area slightly larger than the size of the state of Tennessee! Bulgaria is situated in Southeastern Europe, bordering the Black Sea to the East, Turkey to the Southeast, Greece to the South, Macedonia and Serbia to the West and Romania to the North.

Exact geographic coordinates of Bulgaria are: 43 00 N, 25 00 E

The Bulgarian coastline is 354 km long.

The climate is temperate with cold, damp winters with significant amount of snow and excellent ski conditions in the mountains during the winter and hot, dry summers perfect for a sea vacation along the Black sea coast in the summer. Best seasons for travel are late spring and autumn.

The relief of the country is mountainous with lowlands in north and southeast. The three gorgeous mounatin ranges of Rila, Pirin and the Rhodopes stretch in Southwestern Bulgaria, where one can find tranquility, calmness and village settlements that are hardly to be found in other parts of Europe. The highest peak in Bulgaria is Mousalla, situated in the Rila Mountain Range and it rises up to 2 927 m.

Natural resources of Bulgaria are bauxite, copper, lead, zinc, coal, timber, arable land
